World Down Syndrome Day

Career Week

On Monday the 18th of March we had Mr. Tryson Marshall kicking off career week with his short speech on being a pilot.

Second up we had Mrs. Persha Hutchinson speaking to the children about being a nurse and the different instruments they use.

Wrapping up on Monday we had a short speech from Mr. Lency Simmons on being a taxi driver here in Bequia.

On Tuesday the 19th we had Dr. the Hon. Godwin Friday, who spoke to the children about his job of being a lawyer.

On Wednesday the 20th of March we had our district dentist Dr. Janett catch up with the students on what it takes to become a dentist as part of her career week speech.

Mr. Adrian Ollivierre also spoke to the children on Wednesday about his small business Ollivierre’s Maintenance Services and steps he took that lead to his career today.

On Friday the 22nd of March Mr. Rodney Bynoe engaged the students about his career choice as a mechanic. He spoke of his love and dedication for what he does and encouraged the students that they too must have a love and dedication for whatever choice of career they chose.

Mr. Tyrese Mc Intosh spoke to the children on his career choice of being a musician on the side for two local bands, where his love for music started and how his journey in music has been going since his entry in the career.

Mr. Patrick Hutchins spoke to the students about being a customs officer, gave insight on the subjects needed and the steps he took to get where he is today. He started at the age of 17 and has been working as a custom officer for over 20 years. He is currently the assistant supervisor at the Bequia Customs.
